Consequences of Her Presence

Mystery lingers
merrily in her eyes.
The most subtle
of her smiles
contains volumes rich
in meaning,
opens doors
to anticipate wonder,
to find and
be found
in the thousand
thousand stories
inhabiting the grand,
wide ranges of
her imagination.

Naming her "beautiful,"
calling her "lovely,"
fail to convey
her truth,
insufficient understatements.
Her countenance
bespeaks a nobility
whose kind
is encountered
as often
as sleeping unicorns,
as songs sung
by falling stars;
nobility in
purest, most
elemental form,
that needs support
of no titles,
no manufactured honors
or recognition;
nobility residing
in deepest fibers
of her soul.

The consequences
of her presence
enable me
to believe once more
in realms of
honor
beauty
adventure,
where glory
neither fades
nor dies.
I cannot but
wonder
if she is
their ambassador,
a light of hope
who shines into
a dark
and fearful
world.
